10 Books That Are ALWAYS On My Bookshelf

Staples to My Personal Development Library

Self development books are not everybody’s cup of tea. While some people actually prefer a nonfiction read, others avoid the nonfiction shelves like the plague.devour-books

For myself, nonfiction books were not my choice of reading material. A few years ago, My mentor said to me, “Kristine, if you could get a sliver of a millionaire’s mind and see how they think, isn’t that worth spending the time to read their book?” I’m sure you can guess what my answer was. Being the big reader I am, I wasn’t going to back away from that challenge.

If you don’t want to take the advice from my mentor, medium.com says that “reading books are highly correlated with building wealth and success.” The wealthiest people spend lots of time reading. To create wealth and success in my own life I was going to take up this habit too.Empty minds make the most noise

And you know what? The more and more I read nonfiction, the more I find them taking up shelf space on my personal library. And I love it!

Any author, whether writing nonfiction or fiction, is conveying their ideas and research onto paper for others.

If you are not where you want to be in life, books can spark ideas, give you new insights, put a smile on your face, and perk up your mood. They can shift the way you think! They can give you a new lens to see the world from a different perspective.books-give-you-perspective

Plus, it is suggested you read a book everyday. Even if I spend the minimum of a few minutes reading a chapter out of a self development book, I’d have to have quite a selection of books on hand. That is why I always have a few that stay in my own library so I can pick them up whenever I need.

So without further delay, here they are – my staple nonfiction books that are in my personal development library:

FREE Books on BookBub

FREE Books on BookBub blog title graphic

Let me first say: I never read an eBook. Still to this day I am not a huge eBook reader. However, since downloading BookBub, I have finished quite a handful of eBooks.

BookBub offers deeply discounted eBooks. The app is available for download on your phone or tablet.

To whoever did the marketing for BookBub:  props. And thank you.

BookBub

Guys – I can download books for FREE!

Yes, free. If you know me at all, you know I LOVE a good deal. If a book on BookBub is not free, it is available for purchase around $0.99 – $1.99. But I download the free ones. More often than not, these are the books with sequels which, obviously, is to make you want to purchase the others in the series.

Typically the stories I download from BookBub are sweet (sometimes pretty dirty) romance stories. They are like candy – I can’t read them too often because the stories usually lack substance. They are just filler I can take on the go while I’m waiting for my next “meal”.

I wanted to compile a list of novels I downloaded from BookBub and enjoyed. Oftentimes I won’t be able to write a full book review because it was just a fluff story. That being said, there have been some that surprised me such as the first one, Emerge.

I will keep this as an ongoing list, but for now, here is a list of FREE books I’ve read. Enjoy!

2016 Summer REading List

June is here and the weather is warming up. I just spent Memorial Weekend at the family trottage (cottage/trailer..it is a thing), which is prime for making a dent in my reading list.

Plus, I am all done with classes and you know what that means…

I am finished worrying about assignments and I can resume worrying about getting the next book done!

Just kidding. Reading is not stressful.

Anyway, I wanted to share my 2016 Summer Reading List (in no particular order). Here it is:

10 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Wrote Books (That are actually good)

10 Celebrities

Celebrity Books

In natural Kristine fashion, when I find out a famous person wrote a book I immediately have to pick it up. Why? I hope to get a glimpse into their private life.

I came across some of these books because I follow the celebrity in the media. Others came to me as hidden gems, uncovered by my thorough book search.

Below is a list of books written by celebrities that I picked up in the recent months. Most of them I liked, some of them I thought could be better, but all of them I recommend.

Here they are:
