Summary – Kimberly Kind is trying to get beyond her roots. A successful, beautiful, and smart lawyer, she’s finally finding direction in her life and getting off the streets. But a terrible accident threatens to throw her carefully laid plans off course. Now Kim’s hiding a huge secret…one that could jeopardize everything.
Enter King. A perfect mix of Justin Timberlake and David Beckham, the man oozes sex and has more swagger than anyone Kim’s ever met. Their chemistry is off the charts. And after passion-filled nights, the intensity of their emotions takes both of them by surprise.
Love was not supposed to be an option. Now it’s the only thing holding them together. When their pasts come back with a vengeance, can love possibly be enough?
I’m not sure how it happened….I was walking down the aisles of the library and somehow stumbled upon a book authored by a celebrity that I didn’t know was an author! Just the spine was showing, and somehow I pulled it out of the stack.
What is even more bizarre is that I don’t regularly watch The Wendy Williams Show. I didn’t know Wendy Williams wrote a book. Without her picture on the cover, would I have picked it up?
You can read my thoughts on other celebrity-written books in my blog post written earlier this year. I read a celebrity-written fiction novel, Someday Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham, and was let down by the poor character relatability. I hoped for a better outcome for this celebrity book.
Hold Me In Contempt did not disappoint.
Many people raved about how ‘hot and steamy’ Wendy’s book was. But I think it was more than just romance scenes. Yes, they were well done and there was not a shortage of them. However I think the other elements that makes a good book were also included.
Wendy Williams put passion into writing the characters, dialogue, and plot…as well as the many intimate scenes. The plot was also complex and had me reading until the end.
I’m not sure what drew me into the main character. Kimberly Kind is a successful assistant district attorney…but has some major problems! And yet Wendy somehow made me understand what Kimberly was going through – made me think that I would have made the same choices if I were in Kimberly’s shoes (although I hope I never am!).
And I won’t reveal any spoilers – but the end has an incredible twist!!!
Well done, Wendy Williams!
